WASPS School (Weston All Saints Primary School) is a Church of England Academy in Weston on the outskirts of Bath. Set up in 2022, the school nursery has enjoyed its first year of successful tree growing.
“We have really enjoyed having a tree nursery here at WASPS and our Sustainability Council have become more involved in the nurture and upkeep of the trees. We have had amazing support from Sandra and various volunteers at More Trees. The children have been involved in watering, weeding and monitoring the nursery. This has included the Sustainability Council counting the trees that survived the heat of last summer and the winter cold. Very recently the pupils got involved with lifting the largest trees for moving to their new site in Whiteway Green.
Keeping this project running and successful is very important to the children at WASPS. The aim is to start to collect native seeds from our extensive school grounds. Teaching the children how to germinate and grow these seeds is hopefully going to be embedded into their school year.”
