BRITAIN IN BLOOM UK FINALS 2024
Bath has once again been crowned champions in the 60th anniversary year of The Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) nationwide gardening competition, Britain in Bloom.
At this year’s UK Finals, out of 52 community gardening group finalists, Bath was named as the Overall Winner for 2024, with the news announced on The One Show on BBC One.
Bath in Bloom, who first won the competition in its inaugural year sixty years ago, also achieved a gold award in the Small City category.
This year the judges assessed each finalist according to criteria that included horticulture, the environment and community engagement.
Bath in Bloom works with Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bath Business Improvement District, a number of community groups, It’s Your Neighbourhood groups, individuals and sponsors all of whom work on various community-led gardening and environmental initiatives.
It is here that More Trees received a special mention!
From the RHS:
“Also of note is More Trees for BANES (Bath and North East Somerset), a community-based tree-growing initiative. 11,000 trees have been planted since the project began in 2008. There is also strong school involvement, with raised beds for growing on the saplings in school grounds.”

THE ONE SHOW, BBC 1
As mentioned above the Overall Winner for Britain in Bloom was announced on BBC’s The One Show.
As an introduction to the awards, The One Show did a segment on Britain in Bloom and the entrants filming in Bath and a couple of other locations. More Trees were asked by The One Show to participate in the filming as one of the community groups Bath in Bloom work with. Thank you to Steve, Bath in Bloom’s Chairman, for the recommendation!
We had a beautiful sunny day for the filming at our Central Nursery and were joined by Ritchie Anderson as presenter. Click on the button below to view the segment.
Well done to everyone involved!
